AND THE WINNER IS...

Mrs. Nelson's students were very excited to have their door chosen for the "best door display" during red ribbon week.  They had fun making their adorable mummies.  The students will represent R.L. Young in a red balloon release this week.  This will take place at 1:00 Friday afternoon at the Board of Education.  The winner from each school will participate in the balloon release.  What FUN!!!

Writing with Rick Shelton

AUTOGRAPH TIME

MR. SHELTON EXPLAINS HIS "SHOW ME HOW" PROCESS

Rick Shelton spent three days at R.L. Young last week working with students in every grade level and one day working with the teachers.  With the help of a grant provided by Callie's Kids, we were able to have Mr. Shelton for four days. The students looked forward to hearing and working with him every day.  He taught them things that would help them in the writing process and had them very engaged every day. Thank you, Rick Shelton and Callie's Kids.

FLASHLIGHT FRIDAY

The students in the UGA tried something new and exciting today.  We turned off the lights and read  our books using only FLASHLIGHTS. The students enjoyed this so much and are asking if they can read every week with flashlights. What a fun and exciting way to engage our children!  Thanks for the idea, Mrs. Taylor.  We love it!!!!
